Michigan State University

The virtual "Brand's New World" conference, co-organized by the A-CAPP Center at Michigan State University, presented a thrilling opportunity to leverage digital storytelling and strategic partnerships in tackling brand protection challenges.

Collaborative Narrative:

  • Partnering for Expertise: Secured distinguished speakers, regional experts sharing crucial insights on counterfeiting and piracy in Latin America.

  • Engaging Content Creation: Collaborated with the team to craft thought-provoking panel discussions addressing key issues like regional collaboration and organized crime.

  • Tailored Storytelling: Developed compelling copy and designs for digital collateral, resonating with brand owners, lawyers, and government entities.

Outcome: A United Front Against Counterfeiting:

Session: Working with Local Authorities to Address Counterfeiting: Strategies for Brands. Speakers included myself from PMI, Andres Diaz from CropLife Latin America, Arturo Ishbak Gonzalez from The LEGO Group, Jeff Schmidt from National IPR Center, and Oliver Zopo from Merck.

Session: E-Commerce and Counterfeits: Transnational Cooperation. The session joined by Jay Kennedy from the A-CAPP Center, Juan Cichero from Mercado Libre, Emilio Daireaux from Under Armour, and Fernando Casares from React.

Session: Custom Seizures of Counterfeit Goods: Follow Up, Destruction of Goods. Jeff Rojek from A-CAPP Center at Michigan State University, Regina Zamith from Johnson & Johnson, Cesar Cabrera from IPR Center, Charlie Olschanski from Tiffany & Co., and Virginia Cervieri from Cervieri Monsuarez, joined the discussion.


Organization of American States

Partnering with the OAS for their virtual event on illicit economies, I helped elevate awareness and foster collaboration through targeted digital efforts.

Focus on Connection:

Meridian International

Meridian International Center spearheaded a six-part series titled "International Dialogues To Fight Illicit Economies" between March 2020 and July 2021, bringing together a diverse group of experts, decision-makers, and influencers from the government, multinational institutions, foreign diplomatic corps, private sector, think tank community, and civil society to collaborate on effective multi-sectoral solutions to combat corruption and illicit trade.

PMI Impact served as the generous sponsor for the series. Our team worked closely with the think tank to facilitate and deliver these virtual events, managing tasks ranging from coordinating invitations to conducting comprehensive research, developing engaging content for the sessions, and preparing concise summaries of the key takeaways. Read more about the event and access the full report here!

In this screenshot, Jorge Rios, Chief of the Global Programme for Combating Wildlife and Forest Crime and Sustainable Livelihoods at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, delivers a powerful presentation on the urgent need to combat environmental crime.

We were also honored to have H.E. Onkokame Kitso Mokaila, Ambassador of Botswana to the U.S., deliver a powerful speech on the impact of environmental crime on his country and the urgent need for global action.

Additionally, Crawford Allan, Senior Director of TRAFFIC, provided valuable insights during his presentation on the challenges of addressing wildlife trafficking and the important role of partnerships in combatting this illicit trade.
